4/16/2014 - T.S.S. Earnslaw & Walter Peak Sheep Station

We left at 9am to board the TSS Earnslaw for a cruise on Lake Wakatipu to Walter Peak Sheep Station. The TSS Earnslaw is a steamship kept up to take tourists to Walter Peak.

The TSS Ernslaw is a paddle steamer which was launched in 1912. It is 51 meters long and is known as the "Lady of the Lake".
TSS Earnslaw Story
The ship is powered by its original twin 500-hp coal-fired steam engines.

Our tour group had the salon reserved for the trip over and we socialized.

We found our way to the house for our barbecue lunch!

Shearing Sheep

After lunch we saw a demonstration of sheep being herded by trained sheep dogs. This was followed by a sheep shearing demonstration.

We then roamed the ranch to see the other animals.

We got back to Queenstown later in the afternoon for free time and rest. We wandered around the Mall - a pedestrian-only street to see the town.
